Western disturbance brings rain, hail and cold to Rajasthan

The onset of the Western disturbance has impacted weather across Rajasthan over the past few days. Clouds have covered cities while moderate to heavy rain lashed over half a dozen places.

Several districts like Pali, Sirohi, Jodhpur and Barmer witnessed persistent rainfall spells. Hailstorms occurred in Bagoda, Jalore while Mount Abu, Sirohi underwent intense cold as maximum temperatures dipped below 25 degree Celsius across the state.

Barmer recorded the lowest daytime temperature at 17.9 degrees. Minimum temperatures also plunged below 15 degrees in a dozen locations, with Jaipur registering 25 and 15.9 degrees Celsius.

According to Jaipur's Meteorological Center, rainfall activity is expected to continue on Monday in Kota, Jaipur, Ajmer and Bharatpur divisions.

The rough weather has unfortunately claimed two lives so far due to lightning strikes - a young woman near Jalore and a 12-year boy in Barmer. Sirohi also saw lightning kill 90 sheep and goats, hospitalizing one person.

Key rainfall figures were: Dabok - 4 mm, Barmer - 17.1 mm, Jodhpur - 5.6 mm, Falodi - 7.6 mm, Doongarpur - 7 mm, Jalore - 15.5 mm and Sirohi - 7.5 mm. Authorities have advised caution to deal with adverse conditions.
