US Woman Buys Fake Jewellery Worth ₹ 300 For ₹ 6 Crore In Jaipur

A US citizen was tricked into purchasing fake jewellery costing Rs 300 for Rs 6 crore from a store in Rajasthan's Jaipur. The US Embassy interfered and started an inquiry into the incident.

Cherish, a US resident purchased a piece of jewellery from Jaipur's Johri Bazaar, which is under the jurisdiction of the Manak Chowk police station. She paid Rs 6 crore for the jewels.

Cherish confronted the sellers when it was discovered that the jewellery was fake when she displayed it at an exhibition in the US in April.

When she went back to Jaipur to confront Rajendra Soni and his son Gaurav, Cherish, the person who had sold her fake jewellery, ignored her complaints and denied the accusations.

Cherish afterwards filed a police report (FIR) at Manak Chowk against the business owners. The accused filed a fake case against her as retaliation.

Cherish, disturbed by the incident, went to the US Embassy for assistance. With their assistance, the Jaipur Police launched an investigation and found that the jewellery was, in fact, fake.

The person who issued a fake certificate for the jewellery has been arrested, but the shop owner and his son are still on the run. To arrest the suspect, a Jaipur police special team has been assembled.

“Investigations have revealed that the accused sold silver jewellery with gold polish, worth Rs 300, to the foreigner for Rs 6 crore and provided her with a fake certificate of authenticity. Nand Kishore, who issued the fake certificate, has been arrested, and a search is ongoing for the absconding father and son,” Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police North Bajrang Singh Shekhawat stated.
