Rajasthan will be transformed into a preeminent state in terms of solar energy generation, says Energy minister Heeralal Nagar

Heeralal Nagar, the minister of energy, announced on Wednesday that Rajasthan will become the leading state in the production of solar energy.

Highlighting the potential for using wind and solar energy in the districts of Barmer, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and Bikaner, Nagar said the government has granted the allocation of land to three large-scale solar energy projects, which is a big step in the right direction.

The state's solar energy generating capacity would be increased from 21,000 MW to an astounding 32,000 MW, he added.

During his one-day visit to Jaisalmer, the energy minister made these comments while inspecting a wind energy project at Fatehgarh. He stated that the state government has signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with central govt corporations, opening the door for electricity production projects worth Rs 2.25 lakh crore.

The minister stated that the policy to supply 100 units of free power to consumers remains unchanged and that there are no plans to review or change any of the current schemes.
