Rajasthan High Court allows 13-year-old minor to abort her unwanted pregnancy

The Rajasthan High Court has granted permission for a 13-year-old minor to undergo an abortion to end an unwanted pregnancy. Her parents had asked the Rajasthan High Court for an abortion on behalf of the minor. The bench of Justice Dr. Nupur Bhati has issued this decision.
Advocate Himanshu Chaudhary filed a plea in court on behalf of the parents of a 13-year-old minor before Justice Dr. Nupur Bhati's single bench. According to the petition, the kid went missing in February 2024. Her parents filed a missing person report. The cops had recovered the teenager.
During the police interrogation, the minor stated that the accused raped her, which caused her to become pregnant. Given the seriousness of the situation, the police had the girl medically tested, and she turned out to be 14 weeks pregnant. The minor did not want to continue the pregnancy. The cops sent her to the sub-district hospital for an abortion. Doctors examined the teenager. The child has been declared medically fit for abortion. To prevent any risk, she was advised to visit a big hospital.
On behalf of the parents, Advocate Himanshu Chaudhary filed a plea in the Rajasthan High Court to have the minor's unwanted pregnancy aborted. The court requested a report from Additional Advocate General Mahavir Vishnoi and his colleague, Gaurav Vishnoi. The medical board from Jodhpur's Ummed Hospital provided the report following the examination, which found that the minor was eligible for abortion. The court quickly let the minor's family appear before the superintendent of Ummed Hospital and get the abortion. Gaurav Vishnoi has been told to follow the instructions.
