As soon as the Lok Sabha elections concluded, the Rajasthan government offered farmers a significant gift by announcing an increase in Samman Nidhi. The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) announced the good news through an Instagram post on Saturday.
The post reads, ‘Support to farmers! Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma is working in mission mode to fulfill the promises made to the public. To support such farmers, the amount of Samman Nidhi in the state has been increased from Rs 2000 to Rs 8000.’
The Bharatiya Janata Party had promised to raise the amount at the Rajasthan Assembly elections in 2023. This declaration was strongly included in the party’s manifesto, promising to make the farmers prosperous. However, owing to the Lok Sabha elections in 2024, the code of conduct was implemented across the country, which caused a delay in delivering the promise. Following the release of the results on June 4, CM Bhajan Lal Sharma kept his promise by lifting the code of conduct immediately. The Bhajan Lal government is anticipated to shortly fulfil its election promise of issuing a notice to prevent farmers’ land from being auctioned.
Let us inform you that the Central Government introduced the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana on February 24, 2019, to help farmers fulfil their financial demands. Under this scheme, the Central Government deposits Rs 6,000 in farmers’ bank accounts in the amount of Rs 2,000 every year. But now, Rajasthan’s people will get a total of Rs 8,000 each year.
