Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot takes swipe at PM Modi's speeches

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speeches, stating they lack substance after casting his vote in Sardarpura. Expressing confidence in Congress's victory, Gehlot asserted that the Congress government will return to power in the state. He emphasized that the election is for the state assembly, not Modi's, and the focus should be on development. Gehlot's son, Vaibhav Gehlot, echoed the sentiment, believing Congress will secure a majority, while asserting that the BJP is nervous about potential defeat. The Congress leader addressed allegations against him, stating they are fabricated, particularly referring to the Red Diary controversy.
The ongoing elections in Rajasthan involve 199 out of 200 assembly seats, with the polling process taking place amid tight security. The ruling Congress aims for another term, while the BJP seeks to replace the Ashok Gehlot government, relying on the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Elections in the Karanpur constituency were adjourned due to the passing of Congress candidate Gurmeet Singh Koonar. The voting, which began at 7 am, will continue until 6 pm. The results, scheduled for December 3, will reveal the outcome of a closely contested battle where, in 2018, the Congress won 99 seats against the BJP's 73, leading to Gehlot assuming the CM position with support from BSP MLAs and independents.
