Meet Sanjana Jatav Who Won Lok Sabha Polls To Become MPs

Sanjana Jatav, 25, won Rajasthan's Bharatpur constituency on Tuesday, beating former Lok Sabha MP and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Ramswaroop Koli by 51,983.

Jatav, a Dalit mother of two, is one of the four youngest elected MPs to the Lok Sabha, representing their constituency.

Jatav was spotted celebrating her win by dancing to a traditional Rajasthani song. In response to her victory, she said that it was because of the public's confidence in her. “I thank the party leadership for giving me this opportunity and the people of Bharatpur for their immense support”, she stated.

Jatav campaigned from Alwar's Kathumar seat in the November 2023 assembly elections but lost by a thin margin of 409 votes to BJP candidate Ramesh Khinchi.

Since 1998, the Congress and BJP have alternated in Kathumar, a seat reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC), with each party winning three times.

In 2019, Jatav, who is married to police constable Kaptan Singh, graduated from Maharaja Surajmal Brij University. Her affidavit states that she has declared total assets of ₹23 lakh and total liabilities of ₹7 lakh.
