Jaipur police arrest 4 for changing IMEI numbers

The police in Rajasthan's capital, Jaipur, have launched a major action under Operation Anti Virus, busting a gang that was changing the IMEI number of mobile phones using computer software. Police recovered more than 250 mobile phones, as well as computer desktops and software devices used to hack IMEI numbers, from these accused.
Speaking about the joint operation done by Jaipur Commissionerate's Kotwali police station and DST North, DCP North Rashi Dogra stated on Tuesday, "Four accused Atul Gupta, Lokesh Garg, Gautam, Mahesh have been arrested from Raisar Plaza of Kotwali police station area. These accused were cracking the IMEI number of mobile phones through computer software. So far, they have changed the IMEI numbers of more than 100 mobile phones, whose records have also been traced out."
DCP Dogra stated, "We were constantly getting complaints of this type. If any mobile was being traced, they were telling that we have taken it from there, after which a special team was formed."
As per rajasthan.ndtv.in, the incident came to light under the supervision of ADCP Bajrang Singh Shekhawat. ASI Tarachand, Jagdish, Sonu Singh, Jai Singh, Surjeet and Naveen Rana took action under the supervision of Kotwali SHO Rajesh Kumar. During this, Head Constable Jagdish and Sonu Singh played a crucial role.
