Heroin worth crores smuggled from Pakistan using drones seized in Rajasthan

Security officials in Rajasthan's Anupgarh district seized a heroin smuggling operation on Saturday, marking a significant drug bust. Police reports state that the contraband, which weighed 12 kg and was worth around Rs 60 crore, was being smuggled from Pakistan by drones.

In the regions of the Sameja Kothi and Anupgarh police stations, the operation was conducted in two distinct incidents. In the first incident, BSF jawans in 13 K village close to the Kailash post opened fire after hearing the sound of a drone. During a joint search operation with the police, they uncovered two packages carrying 6 kilograms of heroin, valued at Rs 30 crore.

In the second instance, the police were called by locals in the area of the Sameja Kothi police station who heard a drone. The smugglers opened fire and left the area as the villagers and police team got closer to the location where they had arrived to pick up the package. A search of the area found two packages carrying an additional 6 kilogram of heroin, both worth Rs 30 crore.

Ramesh Morya, Superintendent of Police in Anupgarh, admitted the widespread use of drones to smuggle drugs from Pakistan. He revealed plans to deploy an anti-drone system along the border to track and disable drones used for illegal activities.
