Beautiful lakes to explore in Rajasthan

Rajasthan besides being famous for its forts and palaces has also beautiful lakes which you cannot miss.
Listed below are some lakes which are famous in Rajasthan.
1. Anand Sagar Lake (Banswara)
Also known as Bai Talab, this is an artificial lake which was constructed by Lanchi Bai, the Rani of Maharaval Jagmal Singh. This lake is surrounded by trees known as Kalpa Vriksha which are considered to be holy. This lake is located in the eastern part of Banswara.
2. Aanasagar Lake (Ajmer)
Built by Arnoraj Chauhan, son of Ajaypal Chauhan, between 1135 and 1150 AD, this is an artificial lake. Arnoraj was also known as Anaj on whose name the lake was given its name. Mughal Emperor Jahangir added his touch to the lake by laying out the Daulat Bagh Gardens near the lake and years later Shah Jahan also, contributed to the expansion by building five pavilions, known as the Baradari, between the garden and the lake.
3. Balsamand Lake
Located around 5 kms from Jodhpur, this lake was built in 1159 AD and was planned as a water reservoir to cater to Mandore. The Balsamand Lake Palace was built on its shore later as a summer palace.
4. Fateh Sagar Lake (Udaipur)
Bordered by hills and woodlands, this lake lies to the north of lake Pichola. The lake houses the beautiful Nehru Island and an islet on which stands the Udaipur Solar Observatory.
5. Kailana Lake
This is a small artificial lake which is situated on the Jaisalmer road. The lake is a perfect picnic spot and also has boating facilities for the tourists.
